SATURDAY – Missio Day Kick-Off
The Moore family will begin giving ourselves to a hurting part of Sherwood/NLR this Saturday from 10-12 Noon. It is called Missio Day and will happen the first Saturday of each month. This effort will initially consist of cleaning up around Lake Cherrywood Park and getting to know the folks in the a…rea. As we invite theme into our beloved community to share in our work and meals, we trust that God will provide many opportunities to live out the way of Jesus and the good news of the kingdom of God. If you can make it, we’d love to know you’re coming. Just email me at mentalscs@sbcglobal.net or call 517-2024. Shalom, Jeff Moore

July 29, 2009 at 6:44 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentWRITING WORKSHOP THIS SATURDAY
Join us this Saturday from 10 AM till 2 PM as Greg will be facilitating a writing workshop for R Street. We have been focusing on Redemption this month, and we would like to hear/ read your story. This is the first time Greg has combined what he does as a writing teacher/ consultant with church life, and he is very excited about it. Mark, Jerusalem, and Greg have talked about ways to respond to all of the writers/ artists/ creative types in our midst, and have many ideas for the future. This is just the first of many opportunities on the horizon.
Please do not be intimidated by the idea of a writing workshop. The purpose of this type of workshop is to make something that might be intimidating very simple and easy. Greg promises to walk you through a process that will be enjoyable and rewarding.
Molly McCaskill has graciously offered her home for our workshop (actually, it’s her parent’s home). Her address is 16 Pointe Clear Drive. Here is a link to a mapquest map.
We’ll have donuts, bagels, and coffe. Hope you can make it!

Poverty & Princesses
June 24, 2009 at 2:23 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentWednesday night is once again upon us, and we wanted to remind you of some opportunities going on in our community:
The Sweet Justice series continues this evening at Second Baptist Church downtown (5:45pm). Chris Ellis will be discussing the Millennium Developmen Goals and global poverty issues. The presentation will last about an hour, followed by dessert and advocacy/interaction time.

The Movies in the Park feature tonight is Shrek the Third, so grab a blanket, grab family and friends, grab a snack and head down to the Riverfront! The show starts at sundown (around 8:30pm), but we recommend getting there by 7:30pm to find a spot, find each other, or meet some new people from the community.
