Sunday Morning, December 20 – Sunday Worship, exploring Peace Incarnate @ 10:15

Thursday Night, December 24, 8PM – Christmas Eve Service

Give: The Bed Project would like to invite the body of R Street to participate with us as we share Christ’s love this season to Rachel and her three boys.  Tonight we will deliver a couple of sleeper sofas that someone has generously donated. We’ve previously helped her with some donated kitchenware that we’d collected.  Rachel and her boys have very little.  She is working nights to support her family.
We thought it would be great to get the boys some clothes and some inexpensive gifts (a basketball, a board game, some books).  We’d also like to provide some groceries for a Christmas meal for Rachel and her boys.  We’d like to invite those willing to participate with us in spreading a little joy to this sweet family.  We have but just a little over two weeks… time is of the essence.
Dasmine (11yrs) – size 14 pants, 16 shirt
Kyrone (9yrs) – size 10-12 pants, 12-14 shirt
Treshawn (8yrs) – size 10 pants, 11-12 shirt
For those wanting to participate with us, please email Becky ( to let her know what items you’ll be getting so we don’t all get the same thing.  Please bring your wrapped & labeled items to church on Sunday, Dec 20th.  At that time, we’ll schedule a delivery to Rachel’s family for the 23rd or 24th.
So happy to share His love with others with you this season,

at R Street, we informally practice the philosophy, that “the church that eats together, stays together” and for that reason we hosting monthly “Gatherings” – church-family meals hosted in various homes.  This Sunday you will have the opportunity to join in one of these meals and to get to know some of your R Street family members better.

This Sunday:

Gathering @ The Currey’s
What for? To celebrate Adam and Bethany Peterson’s recent wedding & to celebrate just being a church family
What time?

4:30 p.m.  (We’re starting early as Mark has to get his beauty rest you know!)

What can you bring? Thanks for asking!

The Curreys will be providing  1 large pot of mild chili, one pot of potato soup, paper plates, bowls, utensils, cups.

after all that we will still need:
a second, maybe spicier, chili, other soups

Cornbread (I know that Amy Brawner is bringing this)

Crusty Bread

Grated Cheddar
Sour Cream

Oh, and don’t forget Adam & Bethany! We are going to celebrate and “shower” them with gifts of cold hard cash and cold hard gift cards so

that they can start their new life together well provided for, no matter what God has in store for them or where he chooses to send them!

Prayer Request

August 21, 2009 at 6:51 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment
Dear friends,
Linda Kimball informed me yesterday that she has been diagnosed with uterine cancer. Please join me in praying for her healing and recovery. She will go see an oncologist who specializes in uterine cancer this coming Tuesday, August 25th (the day before her birthday). Linda and Kirk are two of the most generous-hearted servants I know; obviously we want to stand beside them and serve them any way we can during this difficult season they are entering into. This Sunday at the end of the service, we will anoint them with oil and pray for healing. Please come with a heart willing to believe in a God who works miracles.

New this Week

Join us this Saturday from 10 AM till 2 PM as Greg will be facilitating a writing workshop for R Street. We have been focusing on Redemption this month, and we would like to hear/ read your story. This is the first time Greg has combined what he does as a writing teacher/ consultant with church life, and he is very excited about it. Mark, Jerusalem, and Greg have talked about ways to respond to all of the writers/ artists/ creative types in our midst, and have many ideas for the future. This is just the first of many opportunities on the horizon.

Please do not be intimidated by the idea of a writing workshop. The purpose of this type of workshop is to make something that might be intimidating very simple and easy. Greg promises to walk you through a process that will be enjoyable and rewarding.

Molly McCaskill has graciously offered her home for our workshop (actually, it’s her parent’s home). Her address is 16 Pointe Clear Drive. Here is a link to a mapquest map.

We’ll have donuts, bagels, and coffe. Hope you can make it!

Sermons Back Online

Thanks to Adam Peterson and the rest of our tech team we are in the process of uploading our “R” series of sermons online. Visit our “Listening” page to find and download recent messages. And check back regularly as more will be added soon!

Poverty & Princesses

June 24, 2009 at 2:23 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Wednesday night is once again upon us, and we wanted to remind you of some opportunities going on in our community:

The Sweet Justice series continues this evening at Second Baptist Church downtown (5:45pm).  Chris Ellis will be discussing the Millennium Developmen Goals and global poverty issues.  The presentation will last about an hour, followed by dessert and advocacy/interaction time.

The Movies in the Park feature tonight is Shrek the Third, so grab a blanket, grab family and friends, grab a snack and head down to the Riverfront!  The show starts at sundown (around 8:30pm), but we recommend getting there by 7:30pm to find a spot, find each other, or meet some new people from the community.
